ANAESTHETICS. Since 1996 it has been illegal for anyone NOT having a medical endorsement to obtain , apply and have on their premisis topical anaesthetics in accordance to the Drug and Poisons act 1996. This is now being enforced. Anyone providing topical anaesthetic who is not either a Registered Nurse, Pharmacist or Doctor is working illegally, in danger of causing harm by using inappropriate preparations, particuarly around the eyes and wont be covered by any liability insurance. Anaesthetic for the eyeliner procedures must be ph neutral to avoid eye injury. Such ph neutral preparations are not available to buy over the counter. To obtain appropriate anaesthetics you will need a doctors prescription to purchase them or complete a medical questionaire by a compounding pharmacy to have them specially made up. They will then be sent to you labelled in your name. You then take the anaesthetic with you to your appointment and give either verbal or written consent to the tattooist to assist in applying it. You must take any remaining anaesthetic away with you.
As i am a Registered Nurse i am legally allowed to provide, apply and keep appropriate anaesthetic for all cosmetic tattoo procedures.
